    Title:Simulation Study on Pulse-Modulated RF-Driven Atmospheric Pressure Argon Dielectric Barrier Discharge

    Abstract:The characteristics of pulse-modulated RF-driven atmospheric pressure argon (Ar) dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) have been investigated, on the basis of a 1-D coupled fluid model. Time-domain variations of the voltage and the charge density on the dielectric surface (Vk and s) were obtained for different radio frequency (RF) voltage amplitudes (VRF). Furthermore, the minimum voltage amplitudes of RF maintenance discharge (VRF,min) changing with the pulse duty cycle ( DR) and pulse modulated frequency ( fRF,p) were discussed, and the variation of spatiotemporal average electron density with spatiotemporal average sheath voltage during the low-frequency period was studied for various DR and fRF,p. It was found that Vk and s cannot reach a periodic steady state for smaller VRF. When it increases to VRF,min, or even greater than VRF, min, Vk and s reach the steady state and the time for both to reach the steady state is advanced. When VRF is 600 V, it is shortened to 2.36 x 10-6 s (about 32 RF periods), comparing with that when VRF is 280 V. VRF, min decreases as DR increasing from 20% to 100%. The discharge is only in gamma mode for smaller DR while it exists in a and gamma modes for greater DR. In addition, VRF, min increases along with fRF, p growing from 0.01937 to 0.1356 MHz. When fRF, p is higher, the gamma mode exists for discharge, while when it is lower, there are two modes: a and gamma.

    Title:Site-Selective Synthesis of Bilayer Graphene on Cu Substrates Using Titanium as a Carbon Diffusion Barrier

    Abstract:Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is a widely used method for graphene synthesis, but it struggles to produce large-area uniform bilayer graphene (BLG). This study introduces a novel approach to meet the demands of large-scale integrated circuit applications, challenging the conventional reliance on uniform BLG over extensive areas. We developed a unique method involving the direct growth of bilayer graphene arrays (BLGA) on Cu foil substrates using patterned titanium (Ti) as a diffusion barrier. The use of the Ti layer can effectively control carbon atom diffusion through the Cu foil without altering the growth conditions or compromising the graphene quality, thereby showcasing its versatility. The approach allows for targeted BLG growth and achieved a yield of 100% for a 10 x 10 BLG units array. Then a 10 x 10 BLG memristor array was fabricated, and a yield of 96% was achieved. The performances of these devices show good uniformity, evidenced by the set voltages concentrated around 4 V, and a high resistance state (HRS) to low resistance state (LRS) ratio predominantly around 107, reflecting the spatial uniformity of the prepared BLGA. This study provides insight into the BLG growth mechanism and opens new possibilities for BLG-based electronics.

    Title:Universal high-frequency monitoring methods of river water quality in China based on machine learning

    Abstract:The in-situ high-frequency monitoring of total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) in rivers is a challenge and key to instant water quality judgment and early warning. Based on the physical and chemical association between TN/TP and sensor-measurable predictors, we proposed a novel indirect measurement method for TN and TP in rivers. This method combines the timeliness of multi-sensor and the accuracy of intelligent algorithms, utilizing 188,629 data sets from 131 water monitoring stations across China. Under 5 algorithms and 4 predictor group scenarios, the results showed that: (1) extra tree regression (ETR) with 6 predictors exhibited the best precision, and the mean determination coefficient (R-2) of TN and TP inversion across 131 stations reached 0.78 +/- 0.25 and 0.79 +/- 0.22 respectively; (2) among 6 potential predictors, the importance degrees of temperature, electrical conductivity, NH4-N, and turbidity were greater than that of pH and DO, and >80 % of stations exhibited acceptable prediction accuracy (R-2 > 0.6) when the number of predictors (P) ranged from 4 to 6, which showed good tolerability to predictor variations; (3) the accurate classification rates of water quality standard (ACR(ws)) of all stations based on TN and TP reached 90.41 +/- 6.96 % and 92.33 +/- 6.41 %; (4) in 9 regions/basins of China, this method showed universal application potential with no significant prediction difference. Compared with laboratory test, water quality automatic monitoring station, and remote sensing inversion, the proposed method offers high-frequency, high-precision, regional adaptability, low cost, and stable operation under rainy, cloudy, and nighttime conditions. The new method may provide important technological support for timely pollutant tracing, pre-warning, and emergency control for river pollution.

    Title:A Comprehensive Equivalent Circuit Model of Silicon Microring Modulators for Photonics-Electronics Codesign

    Abstract:Silicon microring modulators have huge potential for applications in co-packaged optics (CPO) and optical I/O (OIO) owing to the superior bandwidth, small footprint, and inherent wavelength multiplexing characteristics. To enable efficient and robust optical transceiver systems, codesign and cosimulation environments are essential for optimization of photonic devices, transceiver circuitry and electronic-photonic integrated circuits (EPIC). We introduce a comprehensive equivalent circuit model for single- and dual-segment silicon microring modulators (MRMs), which accurately capture the device behavior during high-speed modulation. This model includes electrical parasitics, nonlinear optical steady state and dynamics, and thermo-optic effects. Model parameters are extracted by curve fitting MRM optical transmission spectrum and small signal characteristics. The simulated eye diagrams exhibit excellent alignment with the measured eye diagrams at data rates of 80 Gb/s and 106 Gb/s. A cosimulation environment with a MRM driver in 28 nm CMOS and a MRM in 130 nm silicon photonics is demonstrated on an electronics design automation (EDA) platform. An optical eye diagram at a data rate of 212 Gb/s PAM8 is successfully achieved by optimizing the driver equalizer and the MRM two segment ratio. Then an EPIC with photonics-electronics closed-loop feedback control algorithm is demonstrated, achieving a significantly larger eye opening after thermal tuning, thanks to the accurate equivalent circuit model of the MRM.

    Title:Modeling of compliant-based support for large aperture rotary prisms with horizontal-axis

    Abstract:In the Thirty-Meter-Telescope (TMT), a pair of wedge prisms with diameters of approximately 1500 mm are proposed to mitigate atmospheric dispersion across different zenith angles. This is achieved through controlled linear and rotary movements of the prisms. However, providing stable support for such large aperture prisms, with variable cross-sections and capable of rotating 360 degrees around a horizontal optical axis, poses a significant challenge. This paper introduces a compliant-based support method tailored for TMT's large aperture prisms. The methodology involves a mechanical analysis of the wedge prism with push-pull forces combination, followed by the development of the support principle based on degrees of freedom and constraints analysis. Subsequently, numerical modeling is conducted using compliant elements as the fundamental units. Furthermore, an integrated optomechanical analysis is performed to evaluate the performance of the support. The findings demonstrate that employing this support method results in superior optical surface accuracy under the coupled conditions of gravity and temperature, particularly for prisms with large apertures, variable cross-sections, and rotational capabilities.     Abstract:The minimalist optical system has a simple structure, small size, and lightweight, but the low optical complexity will produce optical aberration. Addressing the significant aberration degradation in minimalist systems, we propose a high-quality computational optical framework. This framework integrates a global point spread function (PSF) change imaging model with a transformer-based U-Net deep learning algorithm to achieve high-quality imaging in minimalist systems. Additionally, we introduce an imaging performance evaluation method based on the modulation transfer degree of resolution (MTR). We addressed severe chromatic and spherical aberrations in single-lens systems, a typical example of minimalist optical systems, by simulating the degradation process and reconstructing the imaging effects. This approach demonstrated significant improvements, thus validating the feasibility of our method. Specifically, our technique calculated the MTR values in real images captured with the GCL010109 single lens at 0.8085, and with the GCL010110 single lens at 0.8055. Our method enhanced the imaging performance of minimalist systems by 4 times, upgrading minimalist system capabilities from poor to good lens grade. This work can provide reference for wavefront coding, matelens, diffraction optical systems, and other computational imaging work. It can also promote the application of miniaturization of medical, aerospace, and head-mounted optical systems.

    Abstract:Pb-free double-perovskite (DP) scintillators are highly promising candidates for X-ray imaging because of their superior optoelectronic properties, low toxicity, and high stability. However, practical applications require Pb-free DP crystals to be ground and mixed with polymers to produce scintillator films. Grinding can compromise film uniformity and optical properties, thereby affecting imaging resolution. In this study, an in situ fabrication strategy is proposed to facilitate the crystalline growth of Pb-free Cs2AgInxBi1-xCl6 micron sheets in polymethyl methacrylate in a single step. By adjusting the In3+/Bi3+ ratio, Cs2AgIn0.9Bi0.1Cl6/PMMA composite films (CFs) with excellent scintillation properties are obtained, including a light yield of up to 32000 photons per MeV and an X-ray detection limit of 87 nGy(air)s(-1). This strategy also enabled the production of large Cs2AgIn0.9Bi0.1Cl6/PMMA CFs, which demonstrated favorable flexibility and stability, fabricating products with advanced eligibility for commercial applications. The CFs exhibited outstanding performances in X-ray imaging, producing high-resolution structures and providing a new avenue for the development of Pb-free DP materials in fields such as medical imaging and safety detection.

    Abstract:Dispersive interferometry (DPI) stands as a formidable method in both scientific and industrial realms, offering the capability for numerous measurement scenarios with remarkable accuracy over extensive ranges. The advent of on-chip soliton microcombs (SMCs) boasting a high repetition rate illuminates a promising pathway toward measurements free from dead zones. However, its application scenarios are considerably constrained by the nonmeasurable range (NMR)-the region proximate to the measurement period's extreme points, which is circumscribed by the fast Fourier transform (FFT) steps and symmetry of the data calculation procedure. Here, we introduce an NMR elimination method that refines the DPI structure by engendering an asymmetric interference spectrum. Furthermore, a phase saltation tracking (PST) method for demodulating is devised, enabling measurements without NMR. Both simulation analyses and experimental outcomes affirm that our proposed method significantly enhances the performance of the DPI system by eliminating NMR and improving measurement precision. The Allan deviation of our method consistently remains lower than the DPI measurement results under identical conditions over an average time of 125 s, achieving 7.43 nm at 125 s. This method holds promising potential for application in emerging fields such as optical coherence tomography (OCT), long-distance ranging, and precision light detection and ranging (LIDAR).

    Title:Increased and sex-differentiated medial prefrontal cortex activation during the MATRICS Consensus Cognitive Battery in schizophrenia: A fNIRS study

    Abstract:Executive impairment in schizophrenia is common, but the mechanism remains unclear. This is the first study to use simultaneously functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) to monitor the hemodynamic response in schizophrenia during the MATRICS Consensus Cognitive Battery (MCCB). Here, we monitored relative changes in oxyhemoglobin concentration in the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) during Trail Making Test, Symbol Coding Test and Mazes Test of the MCCB in 63 patients (29 females) with schizophrenia and 32 healthy controls (15 females). Results showed that patients with schizophrenia scored lower than healthy controls on all three tests (P < 0.001), but mPFC activation was significantly higher during the test (P < 0.03). Higher activation of the mPFC may reflect abnormal information processing in schizophrenia. In addition, the results also showed sex differences in hemodynamic activation during the task in patients with schizophrenia, and fNIRS has the potential to be a clinical adjunct to screening for cognitive function in schizophrenia.

    Title:All-PM Yb-doped mode-locked fiber laser with high single pulse energy and high repetition frequency

    Abstract:We demonstrate an all-polarization-maintaining (PM) ytterbium (Yb)-doped fiber laser with a figure-of-9 structure to generate mode-locked pulses with high single pulse energy and high repetition frequency. By exploiting the nonlinear amplifying loop mirror, a stably self-started mode-locking is achieved with a spectrum bandwidth of 13 nm and a pulse duration of 4.53 ps. The fundamental frequency is 97.966 MHz at the maximum output power of 143 mW in single pulse mode-locked operation, corresponding to the single pulse energy is 1.46 nJ. The output pulses maintain both high repetition frequency and high single-pulse energy. This laser oscillator can be an ideal seed source for applications such as high-energy amplifiers.

    Abstract:Hyperspectral image classification is widely applied in several fields. Since existing datasets focus on a single scene, current deep learning-based methods typically divide patches randomly on the same image as training and testing samples. This can result in similar spatial distributions of samples, which may incline the network to learn specific spatial distributions in pursuit of falsely high accuracy. In addition, the large variation between single-scene datasets has led to research in cross-scene hyperspectral classification, focusing on domain adaptation and domain generalization while neglecting the exploration of the generalizability of models to specific variables. This paper proposes two approaches to address these issues. The first approach is to train the model on the original image and then test it on the rotated dataset to simulate cross-scene evaluation. The second approach is constructing a new cross-scene dataset for spatial distribution variations, named GF14-C17&C16, to avoid the problems arising from the existing single-scene datasets. The image conditions in this dataset are basically the same, and only the land cover distribution is different. In response to the spatial distribution variations, this paper proposes a constrained spectral attention mechanism and a constrained spatial attention mechanism to limit the fitting of the model to specific feature distributions. Based on these, this paper also constructs a constrained spectral-spatial attention residual network (CSSARN). Extensive experimental results on two public hyperspectral datasets and the GF14-C17&C16 dataset have demonstrated that CSSARN is more effective than other methods in extracting cross-scene spectral and spatial features.

    Title:Modeling and Analysis of Electromechanical Automatic Leveling Mechanism for High-Mobility Vehicle-Mounted Theodolites

    Abstract:To achieve precise measurement without landing, the high-mobility vehicle-mounted theodolite needs to be leveled quickly with high precision and ensure sufficient support stability before work. After the measurement, it is also necessary to ensure that the high-mobility vehicle- mounted theodolite can be quickly withdrawn. Therefore, this paper proposes a hierarchical automatic leveling strategy and establishes a two-stage electromechanical automatic leveling mechanism model. Using coarse leveling of the first-stage automatic leveling mechanism and fine leveling of the second-stage automatic leveling mechanism, the model realizes high- precision and fast leveling of the vehicle-mounted theodolites. Then, the leveling control method based on repeated positioning is proposed for the first-stage automatic leveling mechanism. To realize the rapid withdrawal for high-mobility vehicle-mounted theodolites, the method ensures the coincidence of spatial movement paths when the structural parts are unfolded and withdrawn. Next, the leg static balance equation is constructed in the leveling state, and the support force detection method is discussed in realizing the stable support for vehicle-mounted theodolites. Furthermore, a mathematical model for false leg detection is established furtherly, and a false leg detection scheme based on the support force detection method is analyzed to significantly improve the support stability of vehicle-mounted theodolites. Finally, an experimental platform is constructed to perform the performance test for automatic leveling mechanisms. The experimental results show that the leveling accuracy of established two-stage electromechanical automatic leveling mechanism can reach 3.6, . 6 , and the leveling time is no more than 2 mins. The maximum support force error of the support force detection method is less than 15%, and the average support force error is less than 10%. In contrast, the maximum support force error of the drive motor torque detection method reaches 80.12%, and its leg support stability is much less than the support force detection method. The model and analysis method proposed in this paper can also be used for vehicle-mounted radar, vehicle-mounted laser measurement devices, vehicle-mounted artillery launchers and other types of vehicle-mounted equipment with high-precision and high-mobility working requirements.
